Corrstown Golf Club

Kilsallaghan, Co. Dublin · Designed by Eddie Connaughton (1993)

Kilsallaghan parish has been farmland on the ancient Drogheda mail road since at least the 12th century, when Anglo-Norman families held it as part of their Pale estates. The Topographical Dictionary of Ireland records the ruins of Kilsallaghan Castle as a prominent local feature in 1837 — its remains still stand near the course. The Fieldstown River, flowing north towards Swords, runs along the northern boundary of the property: Eddie Connaughton's design routes water through the layout at every opportunity, making the river part of the course's DNA rather than an obstacle to be avoided.

The club was founded in 1991 and the first nine holes opened in 1993; the River and Meadow courses combined into an 18-hole championship layout opened in 1995, giving Corrstown its 27 holes across three configurations. Working across 184 acres, Connaughton created a course defined by strategic water usage: the best par 5s on the River and Meadow combinations are consistently cited among the strongest inland holes in north Dublin. The island-green 18th — the approach requiring a full carry over water to a green entirely surrounded by a moat — is the signature moment, rated index 3 (third hardest on the card) and unplayable from most positions if the ball goes left or right.

Dublin Airport is 20 minutes south, which makes this the most practical tee-and-fly arrangement in the Dublin region. The Orchard nine provides a shorter, gentler option when combined with either of the other nines — useful for groups with mixed handicaps. Swords Castle (8 km south), a medieval archiepiscopal castle, is free to visit.

Holes worth knowing

  • 118th (par-4, 382 metres) — the approach requires a full carry to an island green entirely surrounded by water. There is no bail-out: anything mishit left or right goes in the moat. Rated index 3 (third hardest on the card).

Highlights

  • 27 holes across three configurations: River, Meadow, and Orchard nines
  • Island-green 18th: full carry over surrounding moat — rated index 3
  • Eddie Connaughton design on 184 acres with the Fieldstown River throughout
  • Best par 5s consistently rated among the strongest inland holes in north Dublin
  • 20 minutes from Dublin Airport — most practical tee-and-fly in the region

Good to know

  • Three 18-hole combinations are available: River + Meadow (championship, par 72), River + Orchard (par 71), Meadow + Orchard (par 71). If visiting for one round, River + Meadow includes the signature island-green 18th.
  • The Orchard nine is a gentler loop through mature trees — useful as a warmup or when mixed handicaps are in play.
  • Swords Castle (8 km south) is the medieval archiepiscopal castle in the town centre — free to visit and often overlooked by golfers in the area.

Common questions

What is Corrstown Golf Club and why does it have 27 holes?

Corrstown is a resort parkland course north of Dublin Airport with 27 holes — three separate nine-hole loops that can be combined in different pairings for an 18-hole round. The three-loop format gives flexibility and means tee time availability is consistently strong through GolfNow. It is a practical, well-priced option for golfers who want a full round near the airport without driving into the city.

Is Corrstown a good choice for golfers using Dublin Airport?

It is one of the most practical courses for Dublin Airport — twenty minutes from the terminals, 27 holes with reliable availability, and a price point that suits golfers who want a round before or after a longer trip elsewhere in Ireland. Not a destination in itself, but a very useful piece of any Dublin-area golf plan.

How do I book Corrstown Golf Club?

Corrstown books through GolfNow with consistently strong availability.

What other courses are near Corrstown for a north Dublin golf day?

St Margaret's Golf Club is nearby — a former Irish Ladies Open host with a more challenging championship layout. The Island Golf Club and Portmarnock are thirty minutes southeast on the peninsula. Skerries is twenty minutes north. Corrstown works well as one round in a north Dublin golf day.
