Seapoint Golf Links

Termonfeckin, Co. Louth · Designed by Des Smyth & Declan Branigan (1993) · Est. 1993

Seapoint is the links next door to Baltray — quite literally, sharing the same stretch of dune coast at Termonfeckin in County Louth. Designed by the Ryder Cup player Des Smyth with Declan Branigan and opened in 1993, it is a genuine championship links routed through 260 acres of rolling duneland beside Termonfeckin beach, with the Irish Sea and the Mourne Mountains across the water.

It plays to par 72 over more than 7,100 yards, the front nine more open and the back nine running into the bigger dunes by the shore. It has none of the fame of its illustrious neighbour, County Louth, but it is a proper test at a fraction of the price — which is exactly why it makes such a good second round for golfers who have travelled for Baltray.

Seapoint is about 45 minutes from Dublin Airport and a few minutes from Drogheda, and pairs with County Louth, Portmarnock, Royal Dublin and The Island for one of the strongest, most compact links runs in Ireland.

Highlights

  • Des Smyth championship links (1993)

Good to know

  • Seapoint is the natural pairing with Baltray — they share the same dune coast, so play County Louth in the morning and Seapoint in the afternoon for far less than two marquee fees.
  • It books online and tee times are far easier to get than at the famous Louth and Dublin links.
  • About 45 minutes from Dublin Airport and minutes from Drogheda — a good first or last links round flying in or out of Dublin.
  • The back nine in the dunes by the beach is the best of it; look across the bay to the Mourne Mountains.
