Lundin Links, Fife · Designed by James Braid (1909) · Est. 1909
Lundin is one of the hidden treasures of the Fife coast, a classic links on the shore of Largo Bay a short drive west of St Andrews. It shares its origins with neighbouring Leven Links: until 1909 the two clubs played over one continuous stretch of links, before the ground was divided and James Braid remodelled Lundin into the fine course it is today.
At par 71 over around 6,400 yards, the front nine is pure, tumbling seaside links along the bay, while the back climbs to slightly higher, more heathland-like ground with lovely views across the Forth. An old railway embankment — a relic of the line that once ran through — is a distinctive feature crossing several holes. It is a regular Open Final Qualifying venue and a course connoisseurs adore.
Welcoming, characterful and a fraction of the cost of the marquee names, Lundin is exactly the kind of course that makes a Fife golf trip special.
Holes worth knowing
- 1The Largo Bay holes — the front nine runs as pure tumbling links along the shore, the heart of Lundin's charm.
- 2The old railway embankment — a relic of the line that once crossed the links, it cuts across several holes as a distinctive hazard.

Good to know
- →Lundin and neighbouring Leven were once one continuous links, split in 1909 — play both for a lovely two-course day on Largo Bay.
- →James Braid remodelled it, and it regularly hosts Open Final Qualifying — serious links golf at a fraction of the marquee prices.
- →The back nine climbs to higher, heathery ground with grand views across the Firth of Forth — a nice contrast with the seaside front.
- →The fishing villages of the East Neuk — Elie, Anstruther, Crail — are close for seafood and a wander between rounds.
- →St Andrews is only 30–40 minutes away, so Lundin makes an easy, cheaper addition to a St Andrews-based trip.
