Plan your own Wales golf trip — free
Wales is the best-value quality golf trip in Britain, and you do not need a travel agent to plan it. Our free planner builds a complete day-by-day itinerary in a couple of minutes: pick your bases, choose the courses and hotels you want on an interactive map, and get a shareable plan you can book yourself, at club rates, with no fees and no sign-up.
How the planner works
1 · Pick your bases.Start with where you'll fly in — Cardiff or Bristol for the south, Liverpool or Manchester for the north — then add the towns you want to stay in. Because Wales runs south to north, a one-way route up the country works beautifully.
2 · Choose your courses. As you build, the map suggests the great links near each base — Royal Porthcawl, Royal St David's, Nefyn and the rest — with visitor info and how to book each one. Most Welsh clubs take tee times online, many through the UK-wide BRS system.
3 · Add hotels and build the itinerary. Pick a hotel for each base from the map, and the planner lays out your whole trip — courses, nights and drives, day by day. Then download it as a PDF or share the link with your playing partners.
Who it's for
It is built for the independent golfer: fourballs planning a buddies trip, couples mixing golf with the coast and the castles, and anyone who would rather keep the money they would spend on an agent and put it toward another round. You stay in control of every choice and book everything directly — which, with Wales's gentle green fees, makes an already-great-value trip even better.
Example routes
A southern long weekend. Base in Porthcawl and play Royal Porthcawl, Pyle & Kenfig and Southerndown, with a run west to Pennard on the Gower.
The full Welsh coast. Start south, work up through Tenby and Aberdovey on Cardigan Bay, and finish in the north around Royal St David's, Nefyn and Conwy — a week of some of the most scenic links golf in Britain.
Why book direct
We do not sell packages or take a booking fee. The planner points you straight to each club's own tee sheet and to hotel search for your dates, so you always deal directly with the course and the hotel. That means the real price, full flexibility, and no marked-up middleman. When you are ready, start with the best courses in Wales or dive into a region: South, Mid or North Wales.
Common questions
How many days do I need for a Wales golf trip?
Four to five nights is the sweet spot for one region — enough for three or four courses at a relaxed pace. A full week lets you link two regions, such as pairing Royal Porthcawl in the south with Aberdovey and Royal St David’s further north.
Is Wales cheaper than Ireland or Scotland for golf?
Generally, yes. Green fees at Wales’ finest links — Royal Porthcawl and Royal St David’s — sit well below the marquee Irish and Scottish names, and the lesser-known coastal courses like Bull Bay, Holyhead and Prestatyn are outstanding value at £35–50.
Do I need a car for golf in Wales?
Yes. The best courses are scattered along the coast and public transport between them is limited. The one exception is mid-Wales, where the Cambrian Coast railway conveniently stops beside both Aberdovey and Borth & Ynyslas.
When is the best time to play golf in Wales?
May, June and September give the best mix of dry-ish weather, long daylight and firm turf. Welsh links drain well and play year-round, but bring waterproofs whatever the month — the weather off the Irish Sea changes quickly.
